We know you have a lot of questions about your small business website and DecemberPress. The following are the most commonly asked questions. If you have a question that isn’t answered in our FAQ, please let us know.
Q: What does DecemberPress do for its clients?
A: DecemberPress is a full-service web design studio committed to getting small businesses online affordably and with great results.
Q: Will I work with a person or a computer program?
A: You will work with a real, live person. You will actually meet the designer at your business. You will be impressed!
Q: Are there any other costs?
A: If you don’t have a URL (a domain registration such as “www.mywebsite.com”), DecemberPress will help you acquire one. There is a small annual fee for registration that we pass on to you (about $25). If you already have a URL, you’re set. Also, if you need additional, higher end functions such as eCommerce, online scheduling, or other advanced functions, we’ll discuss that and let you know before we start.
Q: Can’t I just build a site myself?
A: Yes. But to make it look and perform well, you’ll need a lot of time and an understanding of everything from web hosting to digital imaging/video to copywriting and search engine optimization. You probably wouldn’t build your own store. Why build your own website?
Q: I see a lot of do-it-yourself website programs out there. Are those any good?
A: Many are pretty good, if you have the time to learn how they work and the tools to create professional-looking images and content. But wouldn’t you rather build your business than a website? Many of our clients come to us after wasting hours or days on “do-it-yourself” web programs.
Q: Where will my site digital files be located? Will they be safe?
A: For hosted sites, DecemberPress stores all files and backups on multiple servers for safe, secure access.
Q: Can you create a logo for my business?
A: Yes. Your design fee includes the creation of a typographic logo. We’ll also furnish a hi-resolution version for you to use in printed materials, t-shirts, signs… anywhere you desire. It’s your logo.
Q: I already have a logo. Can you use it?
A: Absolutely. If you already have elements of your business identity – including logo, graphics, photography… – we’ll incorporate them into your site as you wish. We can also work with your graphic artist to build on your existing identity.
Q: I’ve already got a website, but I want to replace it.
A: No problem. We can build a new site and transfer all your web traffic when we go live. No down time. Lots of businesses switch to DecemberPress when they want a more dynamic and search-friendly site to replace their old web presence.
Q: What happens if I want to change my site?
A: It’s a good idea to add new content on a regular basis. That’s why DecemberPress suggests including a blog (online journal). You can add new content and edit old posts. For larger structural changes, we’ll help you make occasional alterations for $60 per hour. Most changes won’t take more than an hour.
Q: How will visitors find my new website?
A: We optimize your website to be easily indexed (read) by Google, Bing, Yahoo, Ask, and all other modern search engines. We’ll even give you a report to demonstrate how visible your site is to those search engines. We practice keyword research on your market area and business. We write content for your website that is customized to your industry and location. We’re all about great, relevant content.
Q: Can I manage my own site?
A: Absolutely. You can do as much or as little as you like. Some of our clients actively blog every week. Others rely on DecemberPress to produce all of their content. It’s up to you. If you’re on vacation or just not feeling creative, we’ll take care of the blogging and make sure your site stays fresh.
Q: Who owns my site?
A: You do. If you’re not happy with DecemberPress, you are free to take your URL (your unique web address name) at any time. We’ll even help you transfer your files to another host so you won’t miss a beat. We want you to be happy with your site, even if you’re not with us!
Q: What’s the process?
A: It’s simple. Once you decide to work with DecemberPress, we’ll come visit you. We’ll take photos, video and interview you about your business. That will take about half a day. We’ll have the front page of your website ready within seven days. We’ll probably have some follow-up questions to ask you, so make sure you’re available during that week for a phone call.
Q: What if I live far away?
A: We have clients all over the country. If you are more than a day’s drive from St. Louis, Missouri, there will be some travel costs you will be expected to pay. Still, even our far-flung customers know that the results are well worth the cost. A typical visit costs $1,100 in travel anywhere in the continental United States. That means you are getting professional onsite videography, photography, copywriting, web design and search engine optimization for $1,700 anywhere in the continental United States.
Q: What if I don’t like the look of my site?
A: You will love it… but, just in case, we’ll try three times. If you’re not happy, we’ll refund your money. We will work with you. We’re really fun and nice. It’s that simple. (travel expenses are non-refundable)
